Pado

Pado — Terms of Service

Version 1.1 — 19 August 2026. Service provided from Norway.

This policy is published in English. English is the binding version.

1. The service

Pado is a personal language-learning application in an open beta. Anyone aged 16 or over can create a free account; an invite or referral code is optional and only changes the length of your trial. You bring your own study material; Pado helps you turn it into structured learning cards and reviews. The service is provided "as is", free of charge, and may change, pause, or end during the beta.

2. Your account and trial

The features that cost us money — AI photo-scan, Ask Pado, Today's conversation and stories — are opened by invitation during the beta. If you signed up with an invite code, your access lasts for the period stated with that code. If you signed up without one, those four features are off; everything else is not. The app, your words, your review ladder, the games, the word packs and everything stored on your device work free, for as long as you want. No payment is taken and no card is asked for.

If you signed up before 20 August 2026, the window you were promised at the time — 21 days, or the length stated with your referral code — is unchanged and still runs.

3. Your data and content

Your learning content (words, sentences, photos, progress) is stored only on your device. We do not receive, store, or see it. When you explicitly use an AI feature, the specific text snippet or cropped image you chose is transmitted transiently to our AI processor (Anthropic) to generate a suggestion, and is not stored by us. See the Privacy Policy.

4. Acceptable use

Do not abuse the service (automated scraping, attempting to access others' accounts, reselling access, unlawful content). We may suspend accounts that do.

5. Feedback and surveys

During the beta we ask for your help instead of payment: an entry survey, issue reports, and an exit survey. Participation is voluntary; responses are used only to improve Pado.

6. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, the service is provided without warranties; we are not liable for indirect damages or data loss on your device — please use the built-in export/backup. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under mandatory consumer law of your country of residence.

7. Governing law

These terms are governed by Norwegian law. EU/EEA consumers retain the protection of their local mandatory rules; for US users, these terms are an agreement with the provider in Norway.
